It was mentioned for the first time in a manuscript dated back to 965. During the XIII and the XIV century its original structure had been changed; the height of the floor, of the T pilasters and of the two aisles had been increased altering its original features.
Between the XIX and the beginning of XX century new restores gave the abbey a Middle Age style.
On the walls there are still parts from the previous constructions. They are easy to spot for the different colour and consistence of the bricks.
The apses has a semicircular base both in the inside and in the outside. It is framed by two side columns. The apses and the pilasters are the structures that let date the abbey back to the VI century. The bell tower has a square base and it was built up in 1200.
There is also a little XVIII organ still used during the functions. There are a XVII century picture portraying the nativity of the virgin and a XVI century stucco depicting Holy Mary by Rossellini.
