Description
The Museum was inaugurated in September 1961 and is housed in the Fortress of Albornoz, built in the years 13640-1364 and considered to be the most representative building in Forlimpopoli. The exhibition is the result of radical restructuring of the collections and important extensions of the museum spaces, carried out in the 80’s, and is divided today into six different halls containing a wide range of acquisitions represented by prehistoric, protohistoric, roman, medieval and late-medieval materials mainly from excavations and surveys conducted throughout the territory of Forlimpopoli. The current location of pieces and archaeological documents in the different halls was made according to their origin and age in order to provide visitors with a topographic and chronological reference for human presence in the different areas of the territory, from older periods to Middle Ages and further.
