Further information

It rises on a hill cultivated with vineyards. Villa La Pandolfa dominates the below valley. An anecdote tells that Giosuè Carducci was stroke by Villa la Pandolfa imposing structure. The villa might have been built in the mid XVII century by Marquis Giuseppe Albicini, who planned the construction of a summer residence for his family living in Forlì.
Its name (Pandolfa) was inspired by a historical event; in the mid XV century, during the siege of Fiumana, Pandolfo Malatesta's Army was trained in the area where the villa was then constructed.
La Pandolfa was supposed to be the summer residence of a local noble family. The Albicini's used to spend their vacations there. It was a magnificent building decorated with elegant architectonic devices and noble furniture. There were wide corridors, a beautiful staircase, doors framed by stuccos and painted over-doors, web roofs and works of art by famous artists such as Palmezzano, Cagnacci and Cigniani. It was surrounded by a wide park turned into the widest vineyard of the Rabbi valley that soon became the symbol of the good wine produced in Predappio surroundings.
On the side that faces the hill there is still the oratory in which some members of the family had been buried and then moved to Forlì Monumental Cemetery. Before the Second World War the Albicini's decided to spend their holidays in their estate in San Lorenzo in Noceto and La Pandolfa declined. The villa was bought by commendatory Giuseppe Ricci who restored it.
