"Palazzo Verano" now houses the Municipal Administration. It rises in S. Antonio Square and dominates the surrounding area from its dominating position. The palace has ancient origins but its present structure is the result of major restructurings undertaken over the years: the building was reconstructed between 1926 and 1927 on a project of the Forlì Engineer Corps and underwent a radical change done by the architect Florestano Di Fausto.

Analytical text
Palazzo Varano is the seat of Predappio Communal Administration. It rises in S. Antonio Square and dominates the surroundings from its suspended position. The palace had ancient origins but it was rebuilt between 1926 and 1927 on a project by Forlì civil engineers. Its name (Varano) has Roman origins. It had been the house of the Mussolini's for about 20 years since the dictator's mother, Rosa Maltoni, was teaching there. The building was renewed by the architect Florestano Di Fausto, who started the restoring works in 1926 and turned the original fortalice structure into a more harmonious villa structure. The clock tower is the most characteristic feature of the building. Benito Mussolini paid for the furniture and the furnishing of the Communal house. The staircase that leads to the palace is very interesting. It was built in 1929 on a project by Florestano Di Fausto, who gave to the staircase scenographical and symbolic features. From the top of the tower the staircase seems a harrow symbolically oriented towards Rocca delle Camminate, the private residence of the Italian Prime Minister. Climbing the stairs until the highest square on the right side it is possible to see a big cage covered by vegetation. During the twenty years of Fascist regime it contained a golden eagle, symbol of the Romanism of the Fascist regime and of Benito Mussolini himself.
