SanCTUARY OF Madonna del Sangue

The sanctuary, also known as "Church of the Compay" (Chiesa della Compagnia), is set right in the centre of the village, along the main street close to the aristocratic palaces located beneath the ancient fortress. The church houses the image of the Blood Madonna, a valuable wood painting attributed to the painter Lorenzo di Credi.

Description

Known also as the Church of the Company (Chiesa della Compagnia), the building was probably erected during the 15th century. The building has only one cross-vaulted nave and side altars from the 17th century. It contains a much venerated image of Blood Madonna attributed to Lorenzo Credi (1465-1537).

Portico can be reached along the 67 Tuscan-Romagna state road and is 35 km from Forlì.
