Originally a Jesuit Monastery, the Villa was purchased in 1740 by Count Tommaso Saffi, and used as a summer residence.
Aurelio Saffi has been living here for a long time until his death on April 10, 1890. The furniture, library and displayed papers witness of his memory and the historical events he took part in, often playing a key role. The villa was also the place where the members of the Carbonari secret society met and was thus given the code name of "Sale of Amaranth".
Inside, there are valuable tempera-paintings by Arrigo Bartoli Natinguerra (1890-1971), who painted the so-called table tennis room in trompe-l'oeil style.
The villa is surrounded by a park, which is dominated by an imposing cedar of Lebanon. The complex, which can be visited, has been the property of the City of Forlì since 1968.
