Analytical text
The Church Museum is housed in a room of the Parsonage Church
of Santa Maria in Castello and contains interesting archaeological
finds of the Bronze Age (1900 - 1800 b.C.) brought to light after
an archaeological excavation carried out in 1968 by the Italian
Institute of Prehistory and Protohistory. Among the materials
recovered are ceramic pieces, half-worked antlers of deer, pots
with different kind of handles, big vases and jars for different
uses. The presence of the site was reported by Reverend Domenico
Perfettti, parish priest of the Church of Santa Maria in Castello,
who noticed in an area along the flank of the hill an outcrop of
archaeological black soil containing vast quantities of fictile
vessels and animal findings.
