News
The Monumental Complex of San Domenico including the Palazzo Pasquali, the Church of San Giacomo Apostle, the Convent of the Dominicans, the Convent of the Augustinians and the Hall of Santa Caterina represent the central core of the future museum system. From the architectural and functional point of view the project of San Domenico involves the restoration of the former church as concert hall and exhibition space, and the refurbishment of the convent building to accommodate the Art Gallery and Museums. The whole project extends over a wide area: while the church covers a surface of more than 1,400 square metres, the total gross surface area of the convent floors is spread over 5,900 square metres. The oval room also hosts the Ebe famous work of sculptor Antonio Canova , the greatest exponent of neoclassicism. From April 2019 the Pedriali painting collection (important works by R. Ruysch, J. Sablet, G. Fattori) has been moved to San Domenico Museum.
