From 21 September 2019 the San Domenico Museums in Forlì will host the photo exhibition of Steve McCurry entitled "Cibo". The exhibition brings together 80 unpublished photographs, never printed and exhibited before, which make up a story about food and its life cycle, from production to consumption.

Programma

The food seems now dominated by an iconic-hedonistic type of tendency that is hardly compatible with the broader and deeper meaning that it embodies: culture. We are in the era in which "there has never been so much talk of food and has never cooked so little", a tendency that makes it assume a connotation of aesthetic virtuality disconnected from some of the deepest dimensions of human existence. The material environment of doing, the art of knowing how to do, producing, exchange, work, knowledge, being together, welcoming, the inviolable right to life and, again, tradition, spirituality. That is, the sustainability of being.

This is also why the shots by Steve Mc Curry dedicated to food and brought together for the first time in Forlì, ideally tell the life cycle from production to consumption, taking on a function that, far beyond their aesthetic value, forces us to a deep reflection and an effort of awareness on how the element necessary for existence is present in so many different ways in the different regions of our Planet.

Each photo is a paradigm; applies to the moving figures that consume the meal in solitude or in pain, as for the fragments of markets in which fish, fruit or spices cross the threshold of the eye and make smells, sounds, tastes, emotional participation in a reality which, in the differences, brings us back to the equality of human beings who share a piece of history, of the world, of life.

With the exhibition "Cibo" and, thanks to the artistic power of Steve McCurry, continues and develops the path of "Exhibitions for Good Living". The ideal Manifesto in which art is the universal language that makes us protagonists of a social, ethical and cultural reflection that enters the eyes and heart from the eyes.
