Analytical text
It is a Romanesque church, probably constructed in the XIII
century. The apsis decorated with little windows and the southern
side with an arch portal belong to the original structure of the
church. The facade was restored in the XIX century, while the
bell-tower is very recent. The inside of the church originally had
a wide plant. Along the centuries the church was radically
restored; it was lengthened and some columns, creating some small
chapels, were added to the original structure. The frescos on the
apsis are very interesting. The ones on the curve wall are the most
ancient. They represent The Holy Mother in frontal position and the
Holy mother and her Baby with people praying by her feet. These
frescos belong to the XIII century local tradition. On the apsis
basin there is a fresco portraying Christ in throne with the Holy
Mother, St. Peter and the symbols of the Evangelists dated XIV
century. Down on the right there are fragments of frescos
representing St. Peter, St. John and St. Bartholomew dated XV
century. They are probably the fragments of a procession of the 12
apostles. On the triumphal arch there was a big fresco representing
the Last Judgement with the Cross standing in the centre. The only
part that remains is the right-side one. It had been restored and
hanged again. This fresco might belong to the Bolognese school and
might be dated 1360.
