Welcome to the Official Tourist Information Site of the Municipality of Forlì

Palazzo delle Poste (1931 - 1932)

The palace was built during the early thirties. It is located on a side of Piazza A. Saffi.

Address: Piazza Aurelio Saffi, 23, 47121 Forlì (FC), Italia

The palace is located on a side of Forlì main square. It is easy to reach by car or by public transport.

C. Bazzani projected the new seat of Forlì central post-office. He suggested to rise the new structure right in the main square of the town replacing Pantoli's, Rolli's and Landini's buildings.
The new building rose a little bit backward in comparison to the position of the constructions which had been knocked down; this architectonic choice was the result of many inspections and gave a higher relief to St. Mercuriale church and to Paulucci De Calboli palace. The central post office changed the organization and perspective of Piazza Saffi.
The palace has a rectangular base with an internal yard that gives light to the wide hall. The imposing façade is enriched by a double order of round arches. The ground floor is 1mt. higher than the level of the square and it is enriched by a portico (the fourth of the square).
The travertine contrasts with the baked bricks and recalls the XVI century architectonic style.
The palace faces a big platform framed by two pennons.
