The Sanctuary, significant creation of Tuscan Renaissance architecture, was built in the second half of 1500 at the behest of Civitellesi in memory of the miraculous apparition of the Blessed Virgin to a poor orphan in 1556 near a cell next to the existing stream Suasia.

The Sanctuary was built in the second half of the 16th century to celebrate a miraculous event and the place of the miracle: a small cell, called Maestà della Suasia. The plan was designed by the Florentine architect Zanobio Lastricati. The church shows a Greek-cross plan with a width of 454 square metres and a height of 32 metres. The walls are ,60 metres thick. The dome is supported by four columns linked by round arches with a diameter of 9 metres. The church, restored after the war, houses the image of he "Madonna with Child", a fresco from the 15th century.
